Situation: A Protected 1890 Historical refurbishment in the Old Town of Málaga. A 185 sq m apartment with 4M High ceilings, where the kitchen is situated in the back of the home, missing valuable space and brightness. The narrow rooms, made the apartment look small, dark, and claustrofobic. Extremely dangerous are the unstable & unleveled floors. Last century equipment: electricity, plumbing. Home-comfort is not existing due to the lack of heating and cooling. The wooden windows are not sealed and have simple glazing, perfect for temperature exchanges. This all together means a low Energy Efficiency value. = G

Work

Completely stripped. First of all the structure floor needs to be reinforced to make the home secure. New interior layout: Open concept living – kitchen- dining area. Updated electricity, plumbing, floors & windows. Special permits from the strict Authorities in order to comply all upgrades.

Solution

The home has been upgraded to high end spec materials and equipment: Kitchen, bathrooms, carpentry and machinery. Interior Design plays a fundamental role from the beginning by introducing special decoration elements in the layout, design & lightning. Reorganizing the interior distribution to new layout, where the living area receives a complete new feeling of open space. Maintaining the original characters, new spectacular interior doors of 3M, effective windows, and original floor-wall tiles have been added. Harmony between the different spaces and materials was achieved. Result
